What is a pool type?

A pool type is a classification of liquidity pools on Juncta based on the expected price range of the trading pair. When you create a new liquidity pool, you need to select a pool type, which will determine the bin step and base fee of the pool. The pool type you select will affect how your liquidity is allocated across price bins, and therefore how you earn trading fees and lending yield.

Types of pool types

There are three main types of pools to choose from on Juncta.

1. Stable pools

Stable pools are designed for trading pairs with very low expected price movement, such as stablecoin vs stablecoin pairs (e.g. USDC/USDT). These pools use a 1 bps bin step and a 0.01% base fee so liquidity can be concentrated more tightly and trading fees remain low.

2. Standard pools

Standard pools are designed for trading pairs with moderate price movement, typically a native ecosystem token against a stablecoin (e.g. ETH/USDC, SOL/USDC). Standard pools use a 20 bps bin step and a 0.20% base fee to balance liquidity efficiency with trading fee income.

3. Volatile pools

Volatile pools are designed for trading pairs with wide expected price ranges, such as any token paired with an ecosystem token or two native ecosystem tokens (e.g. MEME/ETH, ETH/SOL). These pools use a 100 bps bin step and a 0.8% base fee to accommodate broader price swings and capture more trading fee revenue in volatile markets.
